Welcome to our EYFS class page. The pupils in Reception are kind and enthusiastic learnings, determined to be their best.

Our teachers are Mrs B (Mondays and Tuesdays) and Mrs Harrison (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). We also have Mrs Connolly and Mrs Johnson as the classroom teaching assistants.

Important Information

Homework:

Starting on Friday 11th September, at the end of each week you will receive a homework letter in your child’s reading folder, as well as flashcards for the sounds they have learnt that week. The homework letter will give you a brief overview of what your child has learnt that week, so that you can discuss their learning at home.

On Friday 18th September, your child will bring their first reading book home. This will be a wordless book to explore the pictures and create their own story. Please write in their reading diary every time they read their school book (with a brief comment stating how they got on with reading their book). We will then begin teaching Phase 2 sounds on Monday 21st September and your child will be given their first book with words in when they are secure with recognising the first set of sounds (s, a, t, p).
See below the expectations for homework
Expectation:
- Go through your child’s phonic flashcards daily.
- Your child must read a minimum of 4 times a week for 10-15 minutes. This will help them become more confident, fluent readers. Children’s books will be kept in school on a Thursday evening and changed every Friday, but only if they have read their book 4 times during the week, so please record this in your child’s reading diary.

PE kit:

• House coloured t-shirt
• Black shorts
• Black jumper for colder weather
• Black P.E. slip-on or velcro pumps/daps/plimsolls or trainers that the child is able to manage themselves

For safety reasons, long hair must be tied back and earrings removed or covered.

Our PE day is Tuesday. This will start after October half term break.

Children are expected to come into school wearing their PE kit on a Tuesday, bringing their school uniform in a bag to get changed into after the lesson. 

Forest School kit:

Children take part in outdoor learning whatever the weather and will need:

• Waterproof coat and trousers / all in one suit
• Wellington boots
• Extra hat, scarf, gloves 

• Please ensure that all of these items are named.

Forest School sessions take place on a Wednesday starting 23rd September 2026.  

Children are expected to come into school wearing their waterproofs over their school uniform on a Tuesday, with wellies in a bag or left at school.
