Dragonfly Buddies

The Dragonfly Buddies play an integral part to our school community. They are available at breaktimes and lunchtimes to help and support pupils who are having difficulties during these times. They ensure that pupils are happy, have someone to play with and they are trained to carry out Mend It Meetings (MIMs) when pupils have disagreements. Mrs Mckenzie oversees the dragonfly buddies and provides support when needed.

Mend It Meetings (MIMs)

MIMs is a set of principles designed to help children take responsibility for their behaviour by reflecting on the causes and consequences of their actions. It can be used to address minor social disagreements or low-level level disruptive behaviour, involving everyone in the process of resolving and repairing the situation. Through mediation, MIMs ensures that each person has the chance to share their perspective, express their feelings about the incident, and suggest constructive ways to move forward. The focus is on developing, maintaining and repairing relationships, while fostering a school community built on empathy and self-reflection. By using MIMs, children learn to take ownership of their choices, understand how their behaviour affects others, and build the skills needed to create a positive and supportive environment for all.
